Open Textbooks

Open textbooks are becoming increasingly available on a variety of topics. An "Open Textbook" is:

  • free, or very nearly free,
  • easy to use,
  • customizable by the instructor,
  • cross-platform compatible,
  • printable,
  • and accessible so it works with adaptive technology.

This resource guide will provide information about open textbook sites and other sources of open educational resources.

 

Community College Open Textbook Collaborative

A collection of colleges, governmental agencies, educational nonprofits, and other education-related organizations that provides training for instructors adopting open resources, peer reviews of open textbooks, an online professional network, support for authors opening their resources, and other services.

 

Connexions

A place to view and share educational material made of small knowledge chunks called modules that can be organized as courses, books, reports, etc; anyone may view or contribute
